Books on Radio

In 2002, a group of book-loving African-American women began meeting in a Westport coffeehouse to talk about the novels they were reading. Over time, the original members of the Girlfriends Book Club — including its founder — moved on and were replaced by new faces, and the club's name morphed into the
KC Girlfriends Book Club. Currently, about 23 women of diverse ages and backgrounds meet to network and discuss the writing of emerging and established African-American authors. Until now, the group has held its meetings at area restaurants. But starting today, it will broadcast a live online radio show that will air at 8 p.m. on the first and third Mondays of each month. Tonight's show features Lutishia Lovely (pictured), author of
Sex in the Sanctuary and
Love Like Hallelujah. Tune in at blogtalkra
