So a couple of big fish swim into a saloon and one says to the other, “Hey, did you see the sign at the Captain D’s restaurant at 63rd and Troost?”

And the other fish takes a sip of beer and says to the other fish, “No, but you’ve gotta finish the story, I’m already hooked.”

The staff at Captain D’s Seafood restaurant may know their fish fillets from their hush puppies, but the ABC and D’s of spelling may be a little more elusive. The front of the sign is only missing an “L,” turning a platter into patter. But the other side reveals that even with the entire alphabet at their disposal, the story’s pretty fishy.

there is some research around which shows that as long as the first and the last letters are right people will still read the word as if it was written correctly. these guys just know their science.
