Breakfast Buffet: Friday, 9/5

This simple, warm-hearted post really makes me wish I had made better use of the past two rainy days than just working. (Venus in the Kitchen)

I am a big fan of mushrooms. They're healthy, earthy and having so many varieties. With that said, there's no way in hell I would travel all the way to Finland and do nothing but hunt mushrooms. (WSJ)

I am all for organic and fresh but not in children's school lunches. I had to suffer through eight years of questionable circus meat, rotting fruit and mushy Jell-O and I feel it made me a stronger person. Besides, no seven-year-old is going to appreciate "organic edamame and cherry tomatoes in a sesame-soy-ginger sauce." So is it me or the parents in this story that's out of touch? (NPR)

Scientists in (where else) France have invented a way to irrefutably test a wine's age. This has become a big deal in part to the Jefferson's wine scandal that's rocked the upper echelons of the vino world the past two years. (AP and New Yorker)
