I went to city markets more this year than in the past five years combined but still don't think I went enough. M. Toast Hivemind makes me feel really jealous I didn't go this past weekend. (M.Toast Hivemind)

So people aren't eating out as much as they used to nor are they buying as many books as they used to. The solution to selling books to people who are eating at home is (drumroll please) cookbooks! At least that's what publishers are praying for dear life hoping for. (WSJ)

Confession time. I was a fat, nerdy kid. This was nerdy in the days before video games and computers (now ironically cool) so what really made me nerdy was my Boy's Life and Popular Science magazines. I've always been a big reader but I really wish I knew then that reading held the key to losing weight. (Time)

The real losers in this whole financial mess? Realtors hawking third homes. Turns out the filthy wealthy are turning to time shares or (gasp) just plain hotel rooms. (Bloomberg)

*Note*: In my culinary class this week, we had our first exam and did not cook. Therefore there will be no Culinary Diary Journal today. It will return next Tuesday when we learn to truss chickens.

Yeah, I didn't mention anything about being fat and nerdy now because I presumed people know and as I keep telling myself- fat and nerdy is now hip.

Are chickens the it that Public Enemy was referring to when they said "Can't Truss It?"

I was a fat, nerdy kid, too. As well as a fat, nerdy adult.
