If you don't have any plans for tonight, and are going to be near the Power & Light district -- and have 50 extra bucks lying around -- then I have the event for you. Avery Brewing Company of Boulder, Colorado, is having a two-hour educational tasting tonight at the Flying Saucer beginning at 7 p.m. The testing features 15 of the brewery's beers and is hosted by none other than Adam Avery, the brewmaster of Avery Brewing Company.

From the press release:

Featured beers will be distributed in sample-sized servings and will include Karma Belgian Ale; White Rascal Belgian Wheat Ale; India Pale Ale, an American IPA; Ale to the Chief, Avery’s new “Presidential” Pale Ale; Fifteen, Avery’s latest anniversary ale; Salvation Belgian Strong Golden Ale; The Reverend Belgian Quadrupel Ale; Hog Heaven Barleywine; The Maharaja Imperial India Pale Ale 2008; The Kaiser Imperial Oktoberfest 2008; The Czar Imperial Stout 2003; Samael’s Oak-aged Ale 2008; The Best Grand Cru Ale 2004 and Mephistopheles’ Stout 2006. The beers will be paired with select meats and cheeses.

The price is steep at $50 ($45 if you're a member of Flying Saucer's UFO club) but Avery has a reputation as one of the best microbrewers in Colorado. Its double-red ale won silver at the Great American Beer Festival last year and if you are enough of a beer-geek to know what the Great American Beer Festival is then this is definitely down your alley.
