You are what you eat: photographic evidence

Photographer Peter Menzel first became famous for his exhibit Material World, his series of people in various countries and their wardrobes. To follow that up he shot Hungry Planet: What the World Eats which contains 48 photographs taken in 24 countries, showing the wide array of crap humans eat.

As subscribers to our dining newsletter Pitch Forks already know, Hungry Planet opened two days ago at downtown's Central Library. It's up until the beginning of next year, so there's no hurry to run down to see it today -- but don't fall into the trap of thinking you can always go later, because if you're like me, you'll put it off until you miss it.

Due to buzzkill copyright issues, I can't post a photo from the exhibit here but Time magazine does have a good slide show of Menzel's work here.
