In what will be a blow for downtowners, Cosentino's says it is not opening until next year.
The supermarket in the Power & Light District was slated to open this past summer, but that was pushed back to sometime in November. Now, in this interview on Fox4 News last night, John Cosentino says the grocery store will definitely be open by January 7, 2009.
That's a setback, but after peering into the windows whenever I walk by, I have to say I am stoked for the store's opening. Not as stoked as if Trader Joe's were going into the space, but still, it will be nice to have a grocery store downtown, especially one with an 83-foot-long salad bar.

Hey Bubble Boy, get out once in awhile and eat a few veggies and maybe you will build up your immune system so you won't be so afraid of the dreaded salad bar. At least there is a sneeze guard on the salad bar. Unless you use some special wash, you aren't getting all the remnants of goobers and dingleberries left by people rummaging through the fruits and veggies section. Not to mention all the crap that is on your average glob of hamburger.
If you want a TJs here, please go to their website and keep putting in location requests! I can't be the only person doing it for KC...
I'm getting seriously sick of waiting for a grocery store downtown. You have been teasing us dt residents for over 2 years now! Get it together!
Sweet! That's like an additional 30-40 feet of disgusting. I leave eating places where regular customers can get their germs on my food before I eat it. Especially downtown!
