I'm always thrilled to celebrate culinary ingenuity, which is why I couldn't be more impressed by the concept of the Jasmin Restaurant in beautiful downtown Eudora, Kansas -- a city named after the first baby born in this quaint hamlet in the 1850s.
I was only passing through Eudora when I stumbled on this little treasure, so I haven't actually eaten in Jasmin yet, but I can hardly wait to go back. The restaurant doesn't mingle the two culinary styles, but the menu has an extensive array of Chinese fare on one side and a more modest selection of Mexican dishes on the other. The dessert choices are more universal: fortune cookies and fried ice cream.
The dining room reflects the split personality of the restaurant: a large, elaborate Oriental carving hangs on one side of the room, a collection of Mexican sombreros and serapes on the other. On the afternoon I peeked in, there were customers at three tables. They were all eating Chinese dishes. When I go back to Eudora, I'll have to sample both cuisines, including the hot garlic sticks, the pineapple shrimp and maybe the incredibly cheap family dinner. And I'll have to try one of the 12 combination dinners -- none over $7 -- from the Mexican side.
Now if I can only find a restaurant that serves Chinese, Mexican, French, Pakistani, Cajun, Italian, and Soul Food cuisines at the same time and isn't a casino buffet!

not five star by any means, but always good quality and excellent portions for the money. the carne asada on the mexican menu is muy bueno.
My family and I have lived in Eudora for 5 years and thouroughly enjoy every dish we have ever ordered from Jasmins. The Garlic sticks (hot garlic sauce wings) are outstanding and the Mexican Steak dinner is one of my personal favorites. When we order food from Jasmins (about once a week) we have to pull out the menu and mull over the many tempting dishes we love before ordering. One thing for sure you will not be hungry when you are done!
