The cold really effects a big deck.
This weekend I heard a rumor about John's Big Deck closing. After calling the bar several times with no response I made the trek to ninth and Wyandotte to see for myself what the deal was.
According to a sign on the door John's Big Deck is closed for remodeling, thus for the time being, Downtown has lost another bar. Fortunately, just one block away on 8th Street, I was happy to see The Phoenix Piano Bar and Grill with lots of cars parked in front and in the side lot.
I was in a hurry so I didn't stop, but people have been telling me it's just as hip as the original.

The deck is opened! We have a limited menu and we're a little short staffed but what is most important is that were finally reopened and everything is running somewhat smoothly!!!So come on down and see me, so far i'm working atleast 6 days a week, so stop on by. WE GOT THE LIQUOR CARD!!! THANK GOD! I am so ready to quit this stupid office job; anyone who knows me knows i can't be contained in this stupid yes ma'am no sir crap. lol. i haven't heard a good dirty joke since the silly bar closed. Anyway, the fire marshall and the health inspector got pushed to monday or tuesday due to the water main break yesterday. So next weekend or the first of the next week HUGE goin back to john's party!

ok, not quite what we hoped but we're waiting on the liquor card. but alot of things have changed and it's gonna be great. about the first of march we hope.

i used to work at john's and i didn't hear the rumor until the night before it closed and it was hard for everyone. but the old owners are totally out of the whole thing and a new owner wants to have it opened by the end of january after the bank goes to court and all that. so hopefully it wont be closed for long. i will try to post again when it does open back up
