A big hat-tip to Chimpotle for calling attention to this on his food blog Hot Blog on a Stick: Shatto Milk Company's glass supplier is having trouble with quart-size bottles and the dairy may experience a delay of two months before it gets any replacement. Shatto's asking customers to return any of their empty bottles to any store that carries its products.
The orange creme milk, strawberry milk, root beer milk and eggnog all come exclusively in quart size.
Don't worry Shatto: I'm returning my empty eggnog bottle (all that remains of my eggnog taste test) tomorrow.

A wise man once remarked "Ask not what my local dairy can do for me---Ask what I can do for my local dairy." And by golly, if the fine folks at Shatto forced me to buy Rootbeer milk in a half-gallon bottle until the bottle crisis has passed, for the good of humanity I would make such a sacrifice. The waistline of my pants may prefer it in skim but that too would be sacrificed in this noble pursuit.
Thanks so much for sharing the information about our quart bottle shortage. Our hope is we get many returned and we will not experience any disruption to normal distribution.
We greatly appreciate your help in a time where we have no control over our suppliers equipment replacement, etc.
We are always amazed about how wonderful people are in this town and how supportive they are of our local family farm.
For that, we cannot thank you enough!
We will be looking for that egg nog bottle.
Cheers,
Matt Shatto
