In addition to Mardi Gras, Fat Tuesday and Pancake Day (more on that tomorrow) this week brings us the KC Originals Restaurant Week. The 40 restaurants in the organization range from upscale, such as Aixois and Tatsu's, to working-man bars like Harry's Country Club.

From now until Saturday, every restaurant in the group offers 20 percent off on all dinners to people signed up for the KC Originals rewards card. (The card is much less cheesy than the name "rewards card" makes it sound.) The card is free and can be picked up at any KC Original restaurant.

If you're not on the e-mail list or don't have time to pick up the card, get on the e-mail list, print the 20 percent off certificate and go back out to eat, the certificate is also posted on the KC Originals Web site. There's no reason not to save money when visiting a local restaurant this week.

As well as offering a discount, restaurant week is also getting into the spirit of other events, celebrating Mardi Gras with menu and

cocktail specials.
