Tonight is Fat Tuesday, the last time to par-tay for 40 days ... if you're a practicing Catholic and have given up drinking for Lent. If not, then it's just another reason to drink on a weeknight (as if I needed one of those).

Our wonderful sister Plog did the grunt work and rounded up all the wild happenings going on tonight. We've counted six events in all parts of town and for all types of crazy. I want to call attention to an event that's not really a party but more a beer-lover's dinner.

The 75th Street Brewery's Mardi Gras brewmaster dinner is at  7 p.m. and promises to be civilized but fun. Plus, it's indoors. The five-course meal includes N'Awlins favorites like oysters bienville (a delicious creamy half-oyster dish), shrimp/crab remoulade and alligator and andouille sauce piquante.

There's a beer with every course. Naturally, 75th Street Brewery is serving several of its own, such as its double-wide I.P.A. and barrel-aged brown ale. It's also serving two specialty beers, Jolly Pumpkin Bam Bière and Ommegang Abbey Ale. Tickets are $45 per person and are available by calling

816-523-4677.
