Open tonight! Accurso's Italian Restaurant

If the old Accurso's Italian restaurant at 5044 Main Street -- located in a building that dated back to the turn of the last century -- was like walking back into time, the new trattoria, which opens tonight, is thoroughly modern. Owner Joe Accurso had originally planned to open his sleek new space in January, but new restaurants rarely open when planned.

Joe's very proud of the new space, which boasts a beautiful bar -- the shelves surrounded by panels of illuminated yellow onyx -- painted concrete floors, Italian light fixtures, and lots of windows. The menu, however, is just like the old one: hearty Italian-American favorites like eggplant Parmesan, fat slabs of cheesy lasagna (served with either a meatball or Italian sausage), fettucine Alfredo, and linguini with clams.

The new space is as light as the old venue was dark and cozy. But all the photos of the Accurso family are back on the wall -- so what else do you need?

No, it moved down the street to a new building at 4980 Main Street.
