During that other Great Depression, the movies tried to cheer up the masses of unemployed, fearful and poor with cheery musicals! That snappy little dancer from Independence, Missouri, Miss Ginger Rogers, sang "We're in the Money," in Pig Latin no less -- E'reway inway ethay Oneymay -- in The Gold Diggers of 1933. I actually prefer the Merrie Melodies version of the song.

There are plenty of people who are not, I'm sad to say, E'reway inway ethay Oneymay. And Hollywood is just  not making cheery movie musicals like they did in the early 1930s. So how to cheer yourself up? A recent article in Nation's Restaurant News has a great idea: Go out to eat!

The article quotes a securities analyst who had these reassuring words: "The good news for the restaurant industry is that consumers typically get hungry about every four to five hours, generally three times a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year."

I don't know about you, but that news makes me want to run right out and orderway away oubleday eeseburgerchay andway ilkskakemay.
