Only in America! Tomorrow is National Corn-Dog Day!

It's no coincidence that National Corn-Dog Day coincides on the first Saturday of the NCAA tournament. The 17th annual National Corn Dog will commence promptly at noon tomorrow -- "the only day all year that one can watch a quadruple-header

of college basketball games (that's a good 7-8 hours of college hoops)

from start to finish without having to change the channel."

National Corn-Dog Day, which was started by friends from Oregon, consists of watching basketball and eating corn-dogs. As the event has grown, so has the list of foods involved. Now it's not complete without Tater Tots and a good domestic beer, preferably Pabst Blue Ribbon.

The goal of all National Corn-Dog participants is to complete the "triple-double," consuming 10 corn-dogs, 10 beers and 10 units of Tater Tots with (a unit is 10 tots).

Corn-Dog parties are happening in every state besides party-pooper Maine. The official Web site lists several in Kansas and Missouri. You can also set up your own party. To get access to a tally sheet and to make sure you'll receive a certificate for that triple-double, you need to sign up on the Web site today.

I wasn't planning on eating corn-dogs and drinking PBR tomorrow but it seems so gosh darn American that it feels wrong not to eat meat on a stick. If any readers complete a triple-double and have photographic proof, I will gladly post their heroic efforts here.
