Charles on Walt Bodine Show tomorrow

Posted by Owen Morris on Wed, Apr 1, 2009 at 1:00 PM

Hey Walt Bodine Show fans! Due to KCUR 89.3 FM's spring pledge drive, the every-other-week food critics show airs tomorrow and not on its normal Friday. The show features (dare I say stars) Fat City's very own Charles Ferruzza

The topic this week is how the food critics have refined their palates and "the ins and outs of being a 'foodie.'" The Walt Bodine Show airs at 10 a.m. Thursday on 89.3-FM.

Foodies! What a notorious linguistic dead end. Who but a bankrupt soul would want to be such a "thing"? This breed of overdetermined and undernourished humanoids signal the last gasp of a contemporary culture drowning in a sea of wretched excess. Of all the silly endeavors in the lexicon this is indeed the leisure time activity most deserving of our scorn and contempt.

Aside from the fact that the foodie blogs are as boring as grim death--a gaggle of sniveling little clinicians enumerating ingredients to the nth degree of pathological absurdity--foodies simply do not get it. They have all the facts and none of the truth. In their empty and cosseted and barren plenitude they simply do not understand the real reason humans get together for a meal.
It's all about sociability and "Foodies" divorce themselves from the joys of sociability.
After a brief hello, they don their scrubs and with great solemnity proceed to lobotomize and destroy one of the most redeeming of human institution:a good meal.

Meesha: I don't necessarily dislike them, I just don't want to BE one. (Not that they would want me, anyway -- my taste is far too vulgar).

I listened with interest about Charles sharing my dislike for the foodies.
