Every fast food chain, it seems, is introducing a version of a dollar menu. First it was Wendy's, then McDonald's, followed recently by Arby's, Dairy Queen and KFC.

801 Chop House has a dollar menu, too. Yes, the very expensive Power & Light District steakhouse -- where the cheapest steak costs more than $30 -- features a happy-hour menu with items starting at only a buck.

That greenback will get you lamb sliders or mini burgers. Oysters, lobster corn-dogs and shrimp cocktail are also one dollar. Meanwhile, $1.50 buys a vodka aspic, which is really just a fancy name for a Jell-O shot. High rollers have more options, such as Maytag blue cheese chips for $4 or fried calamari or sauteed shrimp for $6.

The drinks are in the same price range. Select cocktails and wines by the glass are $6. All well drinks and beers are $1 off.

The happy hour is Monday through Friday from 3 to 6:30 p.m.
