It features a classic omelette with ham, cheddar cheese, hash browns
and choice of onions or peppers. There are some surprises, too, like the old-world classic potato latkes
and eggs.
I was also amazed to see a Chicago-style dog, with
the sport peppers, relish, tomatoes and even a poppy seed bun. Yet the dog fails in one important category: It's made not with the traditional Chicago
Vienna Beef dog but with a the New York Nathan's dog.
Even if
you can't make it on Wednesdays, there's a happy hour Monday through
Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. with draft beers half-off and a small menu with
other specials.
The interior is roomy with the highest
ceilings of any bar this side of Union Station. As soon as I receive
official permission to photograph the inside, I'll post pictures and more details about the bar's selection.
The Marquee is located
at 1400 Main; 816-474-4545. It is open from
11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Thursday and until 5 a.m. Friday and
Saturday. Closed on Sundays.
