Agree but I don't think it is all bad. As Meesha says, it is pretty easy to spot who is growing their own stuff.
Why take a chance on getting burned when you can go to Brookside, Independence or Overland Park farmer's markets and be assured the people selling are the people producing.
The Farmer's Market in City Market is not a true farmer's market. None of the vendors have to be the producers. It is usually overpriced and trucked in from another state by a wholesaler.
If you are going to pay a premium for food, at least make sure the farmer who grew and harvested the crop gets your dollars.
