The ultimate food porn site

One of the problems I have with food porn is that it is unrealistic. You can cook fries all your life and they're never going to look like they do on the cover of this month's Gourmet Magazine.

On the other hand, designer Jon Chonko has been very open in detailing how he creates the images for his blog Scanwiches. He uses a half-broken 400 dpi (for non-geeks that's pretty crappy) scanner and just puts the sandwiches straight on the scanner unaltered.

That's the true beauty of Chonko's site -- many things in life we take for granted and one of them is a well-made sandwich. The beautiful pictures of the "working man's lunch" shows just how layered and colorful a BLT really is.

Chonko is based out of New York, so all of his pictures are of delicatessens from around there. But it'd be interesting to see what some Kansas City specialties would look like when scanned on a black background. Would beef on bun still look as delicious?
