Nothing to see here folks. Rockstar Energy drink is in no way connected with Michael Savage.

Did you know that Michael Savage's son is the founder of the popular Rockstar Energy drinks? You didn't? Well that's the way the radio shock-jock (to put it nicely) wants it to be. Savage is using legal means to silence Web sites and even Facebook groups publicizing the connection.

"Savage Nation" holds the third-largest

radio audience in the country. Just to be clear, Michael Savage (real

name Michael Weiner) has no connection to Rockstar. Even though his son is the founder and CEO and even though his wife is both secretary and treasurer for Rockstar, Michael Savage is shocked that this would lead some nefarious Web sites such as Gaywired.com to believe he has any role with the company. In fact, as far as we know, Savage has never even heard of the energy drink that shares the same mailbox as his company, Savage Productions.

Savage hired the same law firm that defended O.J. Simpson to go after Gaywired, which first publicized the issue, and after a Facebook group boycotting the drink because of the family connection. Both sites have been accused of libel and forced to make a "immediate public retraction."

Both have done that rather than face a protracted legal battle. Charles C.C. Tsai, the founder

of the Facebook group "Don't Drink Hate. Boycott Rockstar," issued

a statement saying, among other things, "I apologize for being

disgusted by the statements, beliefs, thoughts and

actions of two individuals: Rockstar CEO Russell Weiner and his

father, Michael Savage Weiner ... I

apologize that you feel the need to threaten and silence individuals

& organizations."

Savage's lawyers have been busy of late. He recently joined Fred Phelps

on the list of those who have been banned from Britain and has been fighting the

decision, filing a libel suit and stirring up enough commotion that

British Home Secretary Jacqui Smith resigned over her role in the ban.

This isn't the blog to list the

many idiotic things he has said but you can find them on YouTube in all their glory. Pretty much if you're not white, American and abstinent, Savage has a problem with you. Which is why so many people have a problem with Rockstar. That is, if he was connected to it.

@Wow
re: bunch of misdirection about how we should "stimulate" the economy by buying more Rockstar products instead of boycotting them

You know, another option I have is sending my money to another company based in the United States that is in direct competition with Rockstar. I hear PepsiCo has this similar product line called Amp that has a delightful lemonade flavored selection that just maybe can help me overcome my addiction to Rockstar Pomegranate.

I don't understand what all of the fuss is about, anyways. Michael Savage himself has only let this cat out of the bag about four hundred times already.

my brother is Charles Tsai, and he's the one that started the original "boycott rockstar" facebook group. the initial group rose to 12,000 people then got deleted by facebook as well as his facebook profile.

He then created another group with his entire apology which you can find here (http://dontdrinkhate.wordpress... and last night his account got disabled and a hacker got hold of the group and changed it to rediculousness " legalize child workers" and now " michael savage fan club" im more than certain facebook has something to do with this cuz the timing is all too uncanny,

anyways..the word on rockstar is getting out now thanks to all those who have been supportive, and just because the facebook group got hacked doesn't mean its going to shut us up. It just gives more reason to bring more light to the cause.

Some examples for you, Wow, of how the Weiners are "hate mongers":

If you want to talk about constitutionally protected opinions, let's look at the fact that Rockstar is SILENCING the opinions of those like Charles who are spreading awareness about who the people behind the drink, the people who are sitting pretty on our dollars, really are.

We have thousands, MILLIONS of choices when it comes to food, drink, and other products. Every dollar spent is a vote. We choose to vote against supporting people like the Weiners.

...and I suppose as well none of us could use the extra millions in tax dollars that help fuel the comeback of a recession either...
Wow...not thinking about me

So how exactly are the Weiners hate mongers? Do you feel this is a time for pride in our state of economic struggle? I hope everyone's business succeeds in this country personally, even if I don't agree with it. Provided the business is run within legal realms of our law, I don't think joining the ranks of 'hate mongering' by reaching a "Haha, I took more jobs away from American people, because I don't like your constitutionally protected opinion' is going to help the presidents expressed desire to create more jobs and help the economy.

Great article! Actually, a product like ROCKSTAR, which is unhealthy to start with, and that channels tens of millions of dollars into the pockets of hate mongers like the Weiners is EXACTLY the kind of situation that calls for a massive publicity campaign and boycott. Unless a strong message is sent to people that offer nothing but hatred and lies, they will continue to spew their un-American and unpatriotic beliefs. Tell your friends, tell your local retailers and bar owners that you cannot continue to patronize them if they stock ROCKSTAR. They will listen if enough people vote with their wallets. If only a 1% drop in sales were achieved each month, within two years the Weiners will have seen millions of dollars evaporate which would be a very good feeling.

Who cares. You know in the big scheme of things, MAYBE, our neighborhoods and country would benefit greatly, by INcreasing the sales of this drink. MAYBE, 'stimulating' american products can 'stimulate' the deficit. I don't drink it personally, or listen to Savage, but what a trivial issue to "boycott". People still support and buy Martha Stewert products and she's a thief. Who cares right. You simply cannot be opressed by someone's opinion, it's a personal CHOICE to be offended. Like Martha Stewert, don't watch/listen if you don't find her information valuable. Wow.
