Here's how long ago 1981 was -- the Royals made the playoffs!

It was also the year Mel Kleb opened the Westport Flea Market and within a very short time, word spread about its great burgers and beer selection. Now in the hands of Joe Zwillenberg, who doesn't consider himself the owner as much a caretaker ("it's going to be around long after I am," he says), the Westport Flea Market is celebrating its 28th big one this Monday and Tuesday by reverting back to 1981 prices.

Yes, all burgers and beers will be priced as if Reagan's in the White House and Dallas is on television. $2.99 will get a burger and fries and remember, these burgers are made with meat freshly ground from McGonigle's Market. The 23 beers on tap are priced anywhere from 99 cents to $2.49.

The special prices are good all day Monday and Tuesday. Plus all profits are being donated to the Dream Factory. On Monday at 5 p.m., Zwillenberg says he has a special surprise -- a hamburger car designed by sculptor Matt Targon that he promises is "wild -- like nothing you've ever seen before."

The Flea Market is also having a fundraiser tomorrow night for the domestic violence shelter Newhouse. A $20

donation buys all the burgers you can eat and as many glasses you can drink of the

Flea Market's tap beers. That includes six selections from Boulevard as well as

Guinness, Shiner Bock and Newcastle. The event is from 6 to 8 p.m. and while reservations aren't required, they are strongly recommended. You can make them by calling Newhouse at

816-462-0502.

That part also seemed suspicious to me.
