Pity the poor Hooter's waitress. Not only does she have to do the extremely demanding job of serving while wearing warning-vest-orange shorts, but lately rival chains have been swooping up loyal customers with cheaper food and even more scantily clad women.
As if that wasn't bad enough, she has to deal with a slew of corporate rules. Even down to the color of her bra.
As a current Hooter's waitress writes, the chain monitors everything.
Seemingly inconsequential things like bobby pins or elastichair bands are banned and grounds for termination. We can be fired
regularly for things like rolling the waistband of our shorts (some
girls who aren't as bootylicious as others do this to make their shorts
fit better), neglecting to change torn nylons, or for wearing the
wrong-colored bra (white or nude) -- and it happens regularly.
The turnover rate at Hooters is high, even by restaurant standards, butthere is always a long list of girls who are eager to fill their
places. Everyone is completely expendable.
A server at Applebee's or Red Robin can expect about 15 to 20 percent,Even if the waitress is exaggerating about 100 percent tips, one can still make a very good living off of 25 percent tips. Good enough, at least, that there are always girls ready to don the skimpy clothes.our tips begin at 20 percent. But it's more often around 50 or 100
percent, if not more. A Hooters Girl at a high-volume restaurant may
leave for the night with several hundred dollars in her pocket.

Sadly for us men, no similar options exist. Nobody is going to give a 75 percent tip for some chicken wings delivered by an awkward teen male in tight clothing.
Give it time. Once gay marriage is an accepted fact of life, I'd be willing to bet there will be gay versions of places like Hooters (Peckers?) with pretty boys in the place of the pretty girls.
And there will undoubtedly be work rules covering stuff like what color jock strap they can wear.
Of course, by the time it happens, you probably won't be young and pretty enough to qualify any more. :)
