The weekly Farmers Market in the Zona Rosa Center at I-29 and Barry Road is one of the smallest markets of its kind in town. There were only seven vendors (including John B. Goode, right, from Good Acres in Wathena, Kansas) selling fresh produce and other things last Tuesday; the market is every Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m.

There was a young man selling bags of coffee, a woman selling handmade perfumes, three or four different farmers with fresh tomatoes, peppers, beans and the like -- and Nick Medrano of Deja Vivir, selling bags of sugar-dusted sopapillas, bags of corn chips, nine different kinds of salsa and a delicious jar of mild mole sauce. All these products -- including the frozen tamales he had in the portable freezer -- are prepared at the Chapala Restaurant at 5224 E. Truman Road.

The vendors at the Zona Rosa Farmers vary from week to week; the market runs every Tuesday through September 29.
