Somewhere a stomach is crying

Somewhere along the way, man forgot that nature is his biggest foe and decided that we needed to conquer food in a match of wills.

The eating competition is taking on a revered place in society. Earlier this month, thousands came to Coney Island, and millions tuned in on ESPN, to watch Nathan's Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest, where professional eater Joey Chestnut consumed 68 hot dogs in 10 minutes to take the crown. Adam Richman takes on different city's eating challenges every week on the Travel Channel's Man v. Food.

Richman hasn't made it to Kansas City, but if he did he might choose to make a stop at Papa Bob's BBQ in Bonner Springs, Kansas, where the Ultimate Destroyer would be waiting.

The Destroyer is a $48 dinner with three servings of meat layered

inside a stack of bread slices. It is a whopping 4.5 pounds of meat (6.5 pounds total). Contestants have 45 minutes to finish the behemoth,

as well as an additional pound of fries and a pickle. If you eat it all,

your dinner is free. Apparently seven people have tried and failed.

We're not sure how many of them are still upright.

For those looking for lighter fare, mini corn dogs ($4.95) or an order

of smoked wings (10 pieces, $6.75) will likely keep you from passing

out while eating.

So, here's an open invitation to Richman and other hearty eaters -- can

you take down Papa Bob's Ultimate Destroyer? Or is there another

challenge in the metro area that is worth the attention of eaters

seeking that next mountain of food to climb?

Eh, that Papa Bob's link is directing me to a Florida Horse adoption site. Is that a website hijacking or are Papa Bob trying to tell me the origin of the meat in the sandwich?
