| Confused about Infused? The space is currently ... unused |
Infused Restaurant & Bar -- the scene of the non-existent "crab leg night" last July -- had an interesting concept: The combination restaurant and nightclub in Shawnee had dozens of glass jars filled with liquor that had been infused with fresh fruits or honey or herbs. The food and service, alas, was not so interesting. For the last month or so, this venue's phone number has been "temporarily disconnected," so the future of the place remains confused.
It's no surprise, I suppose, to the many customers who complained to us in Fat City about the dreadful service at the Plaza location of Pizzeria Uno Chicago Grill that the restaurant closed (and is scheduled to become the next location of Blanc Burgers & Bottles); the other Pizzeria Uno locations, in Overland Park and Liberty, Missouri, remain open.
Bell Ringers -- whatever the hell that was -- didn't last very long in the old Smokin' Joe's Bar-B-Q location at 101 Southwest Boulevard; the building is also reportedly going to become gourmet burger joint.
And the Ameristar Casino's retro-style Falcon Diner is closed permanently.

The Overland Park Pizzeria Uno is also closed now. Definitely was dying on the vine anyway...
Maybe Blanc should open a location in the now-empty Falcon Diner space. They could have a "High Roller Burger."
I agree with DLC. Blanc is one of my favorite KC restaurants, but I doubt I'll frequent it often if they close the original location. Yes, the food and beer are excellent, but a large part of why I enjoy the place so much is the atmosphere of the small space combined with the Westport neighborhood. I lose all of the enjoyment if it is in a huge space in the Plaza. It's probably good form a business perspective since there will be a larger clientele base, but I think ultimately a lot of the original customer base will be lost.
I never go to the Plaza except to eat a nice dinner once a year and to get my ipod fixed at the Apple store when it breaks once a year. If they end up closing the Westport location I'll hardly go.
People go to dinner in conjunction with something else--a movie, a rock show, a play, whatever. And these two neighborhoods serve up different entertainment options. I would surmise that Westport clientele is completely different than Plaza clientele so there's no predicting how this will work out.
Yeah, the overflow from the folks in the Westport location should take care of any doubt of their success in opening a new spot a mile away.
Also, I think there are loads of people who'd rather hit a Plaza location than venture into Westport. I'm not one of them...I'm fine with the Westport location, personally! But loads of people live on the Plaza, and would likely love a place like that within a couple block's walking distance.
I think Blanc will be just fine, judging by the dinnertime wait at their current location.
From what I understand, they're expanding--not moving. I'm really curious as to how they plan to make both locations profitable when they're less than a mile apart.
some years ago I went to Uno on the plaza and ordered pepperoni and onions pizza. the waitress gave me a weird look but I get these looks all the time,no big deal.then she brought out a pepperoni pizza and a cup of raw chopped onions.I ate the onions, why let it go to waste, but I never went back again.
