Procrastinate with these online food games

In terms of video games inspired by food, it might not get better than Burger Time -- where you must assemble burgers from ingredients on a series of ladders before a fried egg (Mr. Egg) or hot dog (Mr. Hot Dog) touches you.

But because a lot has happened since the game's release in 1982 (including a re-boot of the game for Mac owners in August), we at Fat City felt it was our duty to find you some more food-inspired games that you can likely play from your desktop at work.

For beginners, there's the game known as Cheese or Font. Test your knowledge of cheese in this slightly addictive, bizarre game which was just posted online. Food-based video games don't have to be complicated to be engaging. Consider this quartet of games discovered by Serious Eats: Don't Burn the Brulee, Intergalatic Toast, Eat It!!! and Aerial Meats. In that last game, the mindless grabbing of falling meat is as enjoyable as minesweeper or solitaire.

If you're looking for additional retro entertainment, you have to start with Diner Dash.

In this game, you guide a digitized waitress in an attempt to deliver

customers their orders in a timely fashion. Think Tapper, inside a diner.

As long as you're playing video

games inspired by food, you will likely need food based on video games.

(It's the same corollary that requires you to bring candy to a viewing

of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.) This Top 10 list of the funniest foods with a nod to video games includes Super Mario mushroom burgers to a Nintendo Wii cake.

And if you're flush on cash, you might as well try to buy the prototype of the beef jerky crane. All of us should aspire to win any claw game that provides winners with jerky.

Who would ever thought that food can also be a source of inspiration for these games? Never tried one actually. Will they make you drool while playing the game? :)
