Best Of Extra: Breakfast at Neighbor's Cafe

On weekend mornings, patrons waiting for a breakfast at Neighbor's Cafe in downtown Lee's Summit jam up the sidewalks. They wait for a seat in a down-home diner, where they'll be served by the sassy gals they've met over the years -- and of course, they want free cinnamon rolls and Neighbor's signature biscuits and gravy.

The walls are covered with newspaper clippings from historic times and portraits of the local men and women who served in the armed forces. Eaters leave satisfied, often with doggy bags.

All of which is why Neighbor's Cafe wins Best Diner in this year's Best of Kansas City issue. In this video, owner and operator Don Roberts walks us through the secret to success:
