Real-life cocktails and Duff Beer from The Simpsons

If a few drinks make you animated, just imagine what a few drinks based on animation might do.

The Simpsons Archive Web site has noted the appearance of actual Duff Beer on shelves in Spain, Italy, Germany and Belgium. Duff is the fictional beer brand, not seen on store shelves for close to a decade following 20th Century Fox's successful lawsuits in 1996 and 2001 to have Duff Beer pulled from the market.

Here's Hop Talk's video review of the beer, which is apparently brewed in Belgium.

The review suggests that the stout "doesn't taste bad, sometimes things can be gimmicky, but that actually tastes quite nice."

Whether it's a viral ad campaign or just another case of copyright infringement remains to be seen.

In case you're not traveling abroad, Flavorwire has put together a compendium of cocktail recipes for the other alcoholic drinks made famous on The Simpsons. The post looks at the possibility of Skittle-based beer (Skittlebrau), bathtub mint juleps and the Flaming Moe -- a cough-syrup tinged cocktail that becomes delicious when set ablaze.

As for whether this is a drink for taste or effect, just consider the following:

"To get the flare-up, I sprinkled powdered non-dairy creamer on the lit drink from above -- huge temporary fireball."

For those of you who don't drink, there is a Duff Beer Energy Drink, sold in the classic red and tan can in an odd bit of branding

crossover. Despite its beer can shape and title, it's a non-alcoholic

energy booster. Or if you prefer, you can get the Flaming Moe Energy Drink -- again, all the synergy you can swallow with none of the alcohol.

I'm from Italy and i bought it recently, it's a cheap beer and don't taste so good, i bought it just for the label and to have a few bottles to use as useless desk decoration :-)
