You need plans. Fat City has a recycle bin full of listings. In this post, all our problems are solved.
Knock off work early and get to Nara for happy hour specials in the Crossroads. From 3 to 7 p.m., you can fill up on martinis, Kirin drafts and spring rolls -- they're all $4. After that, it's just a short walk over the Power & Light District.
There, the Secret Santa Sip N' Crawl is going on from 7
to 10 p.m. If you bring a new, unwrapped toy for Toys for Tots, you get
a Secret Santa card that can be used at six different venues in KC Live
(visit all six and you're entered into a prize raffle). There's a free
T-shirt for participating and a specialty beer at each of the six bars.
The best costume wins a cash prize of $300.
in Brookside hosts a two-day open house today and
Saturday to benefit Harvesters. From 4 to 7 p.m. today there's a tasting of wine and Andre's
chocolates. On Saturday, artist Laura Isaac is on hand from 3 to 5 p.m.
to talk about the limited-edition poster she created for the wine shop.
Bring cans of food to receive 10 percent off your purchases (up to 15
percent off cases of wine).
Ain't no party like a wine and cheese party. Cellar Rat
is hosting a free tasting of locally made Somerset Ridge wines and
Green Dirt Farms' sheep's milk cheese on Saturday from 5 to 7 p.m. at
its Crossroads store.
And help a neighbor out at Brock's Bar and Grill
(6541 N. Cosby Ave.), which hosts the Faulkenberry Fundraiser on Saturday beginning at 7 p.m. It's a benefit for Stacy Faulkenberry,
a mother of two who was recently diagnosed with rectal cancer. There's
a free buffet from 7 to 10 p.m. with an auction and a raffle and an
Elvis impersonator scheduled to perform at 9 p.m.
