The classic date is dinner and a movie -- so why not enjoy the classics before dinner? The Tivoli Cinemas have teamed with 13 restaurants in Westport for Movie and a Meal. A matinee of a classic film (Some Like It Hot this weekend) is $4 and a coupon gets you discounts like buy one sandwich, get one sandwich free at the Jerusalem Cafe. The promotion is for the next four Saturdays and Sundays.
Saturday is the last day of the Kansas City Art Flea Market. In addition to art of all kinds, you never know what kind of homemade baked goods and treats await you. The flea market is at 1522 Holmes from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is free.
You can chill out via hookah at Sinbad's Cafe and Hookah Lounge. The cafe in Westport has more than 25 varieties of tobacco and is open on Saturday from 4 p.m. to 2 a.m. and Sunday from 4 to 10 p.m.
The Drum Room
has a happy hour (5 to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday) and reverse
happy hour (10 p.m. to 12 a.m. Friday and Saturday). Martinis are
half-priced, and one of the most interesting half-price appetizers are
the Shatto cheese bites ($4) with sour apple, soy and brandy dipping
sauces.
If you're a liberal thinker and a drinker, you're not alone. Drinking Liberally, a group designed for left-leaning drinkers, meets the third Sunday of every month at the Westport Flea Market. A meeting of the minds and mouths is at 7 p.m.
Finally, Cascone's Italian Restaurant has a Christmas Wine Dinner on Sunday night, beginning at 6 p.m. Seafood Cannelloni, Veal Osso Bucco and Baked Alaska are part of the five-course meal for $45. Each course is paired with an Italian wine. Reservations are required.
