I spent Sunday afternoon in the aisles of the 888 International Market (10118 W. 119th Street, Overland Park) which opened just two days before Christmas.
The former Hy-Vee is now a massive market with products from China, Japan, Thailand, Vietnam and Korea. It features dozens of kinds of ramen and a large produce aisle just off the entrance.
In addition to shopping, you can eat at the 888 Market, too: There's a Chinese cafe and packaged sushi shop attached to a small food court. Click here or on the photo for a slideshow.

Korean House is fabulous!! Get Jam Bong. It is soul warming.
I have personally worked at 888 and I just have to say to the person that posted before me: yea, you do actually have to understand chinese to know what they're saying. You forget that they ARE foreign and thus would have a different style of talking and connotative gestures. Next time you rant about how humane this country is, do some research. Just because you don't understand the culture there doesn't mean you can generalize and stereotype about how inhumane their treatment may or may not be. Of the time I've worked there, I have yet to see any sort of mistreatment described by 12:56 Anonymous. They have great food at the deli, cooked on the spot. Their produce is almost always fresh and usually are of things that you can't really find in any american supermarket.
I would not set foot in 888 Int'l Market in Overland Park, KS again. They don't treat their employees very well especially at the Deli. Just go and observe, you don't have to understand Chinese to know what they are saying to their employees. Their eyes glaring and the way they speak. I think these Chinese forget that they are in foreign land and this land treats people like people.
