Ingredient, a create your own salad/sandwich/pizza restaurant, opened on the Plaza (4807 Jefferson Street) last Wednesday -- the fifth location for the fast casual chain that began in Lawrence, Kansas.
The new restaurant was scheduled to launch breakfast today at 6:30 a.m. with a customizable omelet ($7.95) that can be filled with three of 32 ingredients neatly arranged in bins behind the order counter. You can also get steel cut oatmeal ($3.95 for a cup, $5.95 for a bowl), warm donut holes ($5.95 with two toppings) or a lox and bagel plate ($8.95).
Lunch and dinner follows a similar formula. You can order a salad with three ingredients ($8.95), a 1/2 sandwich and salad or soup ($8.95), or a pizza (with your choice of sauce and three toppings, $9.95)
Besides the customizable options, Ingredient has a number of sandwich, wrap, salad and pizza selections. The Vietnamese Dim Sum Chicken (grilled coconut curry chicken, glass noodles, carrots, cucumber, roasted peanuts and napa cabbage, $8.95) and Tuna Nicoise (grilled ahi tuna, greens, egg, roma tomato, green beans, imported olives, potatoes, red onion with parisian mustard vinaigrette, $10.95) are among the menu choices.

The info regarding ingredient custom salads having only three ingredients choices for $8.95 is incorrect. The custom salads at Ingredient comes with two greens choices and FIVE ingredient choices for 8.95. The salads are huge and the variety of toppings for the salads surpass any of the competitors. Not to mention the 16 salad dressing choices.
Actually the info in this article regarding Ingredient custom salads is incorrect!! At ingredient you get two greens choices and FIVE ingredient choices not three! the salads are huge and the selections far surpass the competitors.
Sorry, Ingredient, I think I'll stick with The Mixx for my overpriced custom salads (and not deal with the full Plaza crowd). Seems like you get more for your buck there.
Their website still shows both locations. Although their website does say it's under construction, so maybe that's part of it...
Still don't understand why they'd need to hire new kitchen staff if they're simply moving the restaurant a few blocks. Makes no sense.
Per Blanc's Facebook: blanc burgers+bottles is officially going to close its doors in Westport on January 31st, and we will be opening on The Plaza on Thursday February 11th at 5pm.
Yes, Jonathan, can you track this down? I've heard all along that this was a new location, not a relocation.
$9 for a salad with just 3 different ingredients in it? Wow, what a rip off. I'll stick to the grocery store salad bars where I pay $4.99 a pound and can have as many different "ingredients" as I like. Isn't eating a salad supposed to be all about being healthy while eating a wide variety of foods? Off the top of my head I could put in onions, peppers, mushrooms, chicken, black olives, croutons, cabbage.... oops that's a $10+ salad.
Wait, so Blanc IS relocating from the Westport location to the new Plaza one? Then why are they hiring all new kitchen staff for it? That makes no sense...(my husband filled out an application there a week and a half ago, per an ad on Craigslist.)
