You can do a little good with your morning or afternoon cup of coffee on Friday.

Muddy's Coffee House (318 E. 51st Street) will donate 20 percent of the day's sales (that's not revenue, that's sales) to the Hopital Sacre Coeur in Milot, Haiti.

"Fundraisers always seem to come around when the need arises and we have a personal connection. This time, it was when one of our friends went to Haiti on a mission," says Muddy's owner Oliver Burnette.

That friend is John Navarre, a former chaplain at Children Mercy's

Hospital who has recently returned from a relief mission to Haiti. The medical aid trip was spearheaded by Charles Dubuque, a vice president with Ronocco Coffee Co. (the supplier for Muddy's). It was a continuation of the work started by Dubuque's father, Dr. Ted Dubuque, who founded the Hopital Sacre Coeur.

"A spot came open on the plane at the last minute and John said, 'I'll be there.' He was there helping to put up inflatable buildings and chopping down trees so that more helicopters could land to bring aid. His stories are amazing," says Burnette.

Those who stop into Muddy's between 8:30 and 10:30 am. on Friday can meet Navarre, see his pictures and hear about some of the relief efforts at one of the last standing and operational hospitals in Haiti.

"This is a

good chance to remind people that there still is ongoing need in Haiti.

This is an opportunity for people to hear and see what's it like from

John," says Burnette.
