| Debbie Gold |
Gold taped the series -- she won't say when, because Bravo limits the amount of information contestants can reveal -- in Los Angeles over a three-week period. She was up against some of the biggest names in America's restaurant world, including Jody Adams of the Rialto Restaurant in Massachussetts, Jimmy Bradley of the Red Cat in New York City, Susan Feniger of Street in Los Angeles, Rick Tramanto of Chicago's Tru and Jonathan Waxman of New York City's Barbuto -- several of whom are Gold's friends.
"We had 14-hour days, and let me tell you, I worked my tail off," she says. "But when we weren't taping a competition, we had the
chance to hang out, so it was a riot. I had a great time."
The first four episodes of Top Chef Masters' second season will see different groups of chefs competing against each other to
name one winner. The two chefs with the highest star total will move
on to the next round. The final six weeks whittle the chefs down
until the finale, in which one winner is named Top Chef Master and receives $100,000 for the charity of his or her choice.
The new season will also include guest stars and judges Mekhi Phifer, Hank Azaria, The Simpsons creator Matt Groening, Olympic swimmer Jason Lezak and Lynn Curtin from Bravo's Real Housewives of OC.
Last year, Top Chef Masters was Bravo's highest-rated first-season competition show.
