Noodles & Company opened its fifth location in the Kansas City area, at 540 Nichols Road, on Sunday.
The Plaza restaurant had the accordion windows open and the four tables on the front patio were filled with shoppers curious about the fast-casual restaurant that occupies the former McDonald's.
Noodles & Company offers customizable pastas, soups and salads. In addition to soft drinks, organic milk and tea, it also serves beer and wine.
The dining room is split into two areas. The main dining room will likely always be filled with families at this kid-friendly restaurant, but the portion of the room to the right of the counter in the back will likely cater to diners without children. There, the tables are primarily high boys with stools, refuge for those who are concerned about screaming kids.
After ordering, customers seat themselves, and food is then brought to the table.
($4.25), to which you can then add a protein ($2.25, chicken, beef,
shrimp, meatballs or tofu). The trio ($7.50) is a small bowl, a protein
and a side soup or salad. With a drink or dessert, your bill will likely be near $10.
Pad Thai, Chinese Chop Salad and Thai Curry Soup are among the Asian dishes. Tomato Basil Bisque, Pesto Cavatappi and Penne Rosa (spicy tomato cream sauce) are some of the Mediterranean options, while Wisconsin Mac & Cheese, Spaghetti & Meatballs and Mushroom Stroganoff are part of the American menu.
