| It only looks like lasagna |
It took me awhile to make my way over to the three-month-old location of the Texas-based Cheddar's Casual Cafe in Overland Park, but I had certainly heard plenty about the restaurant concept from friends who had eaten there in other cities. The Cheddar's chain (which currently has only one other Kansas location, in Wichita, as well as restaurants in Joplin, Springfield and St. Joseph, Missouri) serves solid, home-style fare at very inexpensive prices.
Those prices are so alluring -- most dinner entrees are under $10 -- that this restaurant is doing the kind of business that its rivals in the neighborhood directly across from Oak Park Mall (Mimi's Cafe, Houlihan's, Outback Steakhouse) must dream about. There's typically a 30 to 45-minute wait for a table.
The menu is fairly simple: burgers, lots of chicken dishes, chicken-fried steak, grilled USDA choice steaks, baby back ribs and its signature pasta dish: spasagna. The latter is a lasagna-style casserole made with spaghetti layered with cheeses and topped with a choice of marinara or meat sauce. I have to say that it's startlingly good. It comes with a slab of garlic toast and for $7.59, it's a real meal deal.
Since the fare is so economical, it's become popular with the family set, so you better like dining with kids when you go to Cheddar's -- the restaurant is crawling with them. Last night, I swear I even saw a dog!

We went Cheddars on a sunday night it was 6:00 or so the place was jam packed our server was slow we wanting 40 min for our food i got the club the sandwich i asked for some mayo long story short 15 or 20 mins no mayo our server was no where to be found i went to the hostess to ask for manager 1st of 2 managers came by did not seem to care? honestly will not go back it ruined our dinner i did not eat.
