Will Kansas City have the world's biggest croissant?

Before
Fat City reader Julie from Rosedale wrote to say that she has a new name for the still-uncompleted Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts -- designed by noted architect Moshe Safdie -- in downtown Kansas City: The Croissant!

Julie writes: "The thing looks like a pair of giant glass croissants! I've been calling it the Croissant for months and everybody knows instantly what I'm talking about."

After?

I'm not sure I would have known what Julie was talking about without a little prompting, but on closer examination, I think I see the resemblance to a nice, buttery croissant. If the name caught on, it could give Kansas City a new cachet in the culinary world.

Actually, I think Sprint Center looks like the set of the giant tire that was in the play "Cats" and rose into the heavens at the end of the play.

And when we first moved here, my brother-in-law referred to the Bartle Hall "Sky Sculptures" or whatever they are as French ticklers.

We are certainly *blessed* with some unusual architecture here in the Heartland.

Yes, xxx, as well as the Bartle "curlers".

That will go great with the Sprint Corn Cob Center.

Julie: In the Midwest, it might be better to call the buildings the "Pillsbury Crescent Rolls." For one thing, it's easier to pronounce and, hey, maybe Pillsbury will make a generous donation to the building.

Thanks for making (me) (us) (the Croissant) famous!

Cheers
Julie
