"Bring Your Dog to Dinner Thursdays" returns to Californos tonight.
"It's a fun little way to grab people's interest," says Aaron Barksdale-Burns, Californos' sales manager.
Dogs are welcome on the Westport restaurant's outdoor patio, where Californos has homemade, bone-shaped dog biscuits and water bowls. Meanwhile, their human owners can enjoy specials on Boulevard pints -- $2 off Pale Ale and Wheat. Barksdale-Burns is just hoping the weather cooperates going forward.
"It's been rainy the past couple of Thursdays," Barksdale-Burns says. "We've only had a day or two of sunshine."
Later this summer, four-course doggie dinners will return, too, although
Californos hasn't scheduled any yet. In the past, the restaurant has
teamed with Three Dog Bakery to create a menu for dogs.
In the interim, Californos has an open dog policy. While "Bring Your Dog to Dinner" is "just something fun to do on Thursdays," Barksdale-Burns says, "people can actually bring their dogs just about any time because we have the
outdoor patio."
