You need plans. Fat City has a recycle bin full of listings. In this post, all our problems are solved.

Bierocks, barbecue and Baja fried fish are just some of your options at the 2010 Kansas Sampler Festival

on Saturday and Sunday (and again next weekend) in

Leavenworth. This is your chance to experience all things Kansas, not

just food. But while you're there, you might as well learn about Kansas

wineries and microbreweries. Admission is $5.

Whether you're a fan of the ponies or just mint juleps, you've got plenty of Derby Day options on Saturday. The Tower Tavern in Martini Corner (with a newly opened deck addition) hosts a Derby Day Party from 2 to 7 p.m., with gerbil races -- yes, that says gerbil races -- and signature drinks and appetizers. Tickets are $20; the event is a fundraiser for the Children's Center for the Visually Impaired. Maker's Mark Bourbon & Lounge has its second annual Kansas City Derby Test in the Power & Light District from 2 to 6 p.m. You can meet local racehorses -- including Seabiscuit's grandson -- while enjoying lunch and cocktails. Tickets are $35-$70.

Carnival comes to the patio outside Em Chamas Brazilian Grill

on Saturday night, with a live samba band, dancing from 8 to

midnight and drink specials, including caipirinhas, at the outdoor

bar for a $5 cover.

The party doesn't need to end on Saturday. Flying Saucer

hosts a second anniversary party on Sunday, May 2. Kansas and Missouri

beers will be $2.75 per pint, and the pub in the Power & Light

District has promised to tap a new beer every hour on the hour between

noon and 10 p.m.
