It's been a big week for bacon ... explosions.
On Tuesday, Bacon Explosion creator's Jason Day and Aaron Chronister released their first cookbook, BBQ Makes Everything Better, and introduced two new Bacon Explosion flavors: cheese and jalapeno.
Day and Chronister will be on The Today Show tomorrow morning to talk about the book's recipes and cook up a Bacon Explosion for the viewing audience.
Fat City spoke with Day via e-mail to find out about the new flavors -- and the carrier that makes this dish, yep, portable.
Why these two flavors?
These were by far the two most requested flavors that we received from our customers. Just like the creation of the Original Bacon Explosion, we're simply responding to consumer demand.
Should I be concerned about the molten cheese layer I have come to expect from jalapeno poppers?
If you dive into one Bill Binder style right out of the grill/oven, then you might have cause for concern. But since our Bacon Explosions aren't deep fried ... yet ... then you shouldn't have to worry about molten cheese searing your taste buds.
With the new pig-porter, do you believe the Bacon Explosion could supplant the traditional lunch box?
It's our personal mission to weave Bacon Explosion into the lives of every person in America. And now that we have the ulta-sleek Pig-Porter carrying case to safely transport a "meat missile" anywhere and everywhere, the possibilities are endless!
What food or drinks would you pair with the Jalapeno Explosion? The Cheese Explosion?
Nothing beats an ice cold Iron City Lager or IC Light from Iron City Brewery when feasting on any flavor of Bacon Explosion! [Note: Iron City is a sponsor of Day and Chronister's barbecue team, Burnt Finger BBQ]
