You need plans. Fat City has a recycle bin full of listings. In this post, all our problems are solved.
The official first day of spring might have been March 21 elsewhere in
the country, but it's Friday, May 7, in Kansas City. That's when Fresher Than Fresh Snow Cones opens for the season at First Friday in the Crossroads. You can try Blackberry Lavender and Espresso & Mexican Cane Sugar-flavored snow cones.
Owner Lindsay Laricks will also be unveiling T-shirts based on her cartoon drawings that represent each flavor. If you can't make it to First Fridays, Laricks will be out selling her unique snow cones for Mother's Day on Sunday from 12 to 7 p.m. in the garden at the corner of 17th and Summit. This season, Fresher than Fresh will be at the garden on Sundays, instead of Saturdays.
in Kansas City, Kansas, marks its first anniversary from 11:30 a.m. to
7 p.m. on Saturday. Look for free barbecue and wine tastings on the
patio at the winery and vineyard near the Legends.
The Wine Barn isn't the only one celebrating -- it's Harry Truman's Birthday Celebration at the Truman Presidential Museum and Library on Saturday. Snag a piece of birthday cake between 1:30 and 3:30 p.m.
And don't miss Polski Day on Saturday -- the 26th annual Polish heritage celebration in Kansas City, Kansas. Fill up on sausage sandwiches and sauerkraut after the parade which kicks off at 11 a.m.
If cake's not your cup of tea, try frozen yogurt. Mochi-Yo (4425 119th Street, Leawood) is offering a free small cup of yogurt with toppings on Mother's Day this Sunday.
