Tech N9ne unveiled the single "O.G.," off his new collaboration album -- The Ollie Gates Mixed Plate -- on KPRS last week. The song has a good hook, "O.G. like Ollie Gates," and rattles off what sounds like the standard order for Tech N9ne: strawberry soda, baked beans, and the mixed plate (ribs, turkey, brisket and fries).
Although this is his most direct tribute, it isn't the first time Tech N9ne has shown some love for Gates Bar-B-Q. In The P.A.S.E.O., he rapped, "on 47th is Gates & Sons where Tech N9ne eats."
"O.G." is easily the finest song I've heard about barbecue. Prior to this, we only had the "BBQ Song" and the "Grillmaster Rap!" Admittedly, it's not a well-explored category.
The Ollie Gates Mixed Plate goes on sale on July 27. The actual mixed plate is available any time.

I love Tech N9ne and I love this song, he is really paying homage to his roots and anybody that has every been to kc knows about gates barbeque and he nails the song because that strawberry pop is strong and that mixed plate gives you a variety and he shouts out to his ku family as well. My 13 mth old grandbaby loves the beat as well. Tech N9ne is coming to KC on Saturday for summer jam 3 he should do that song the crowd will go crazy
I would like to just give congrads to strange muzic themselves because yaw put alot into what you do and it helps inspires other here and other places, even myself ,husband and a few other family members who would like to get other there and get ourselves known. What kind of input could you give us as the Kansas City best rapper,( we have rapper, singers , dancers , you name it we got it and i know it take money to be seen cause here in Kansas City you cant get s@#& without $$$$, nobody wants to see the next make it life and it makes it hard my kids too!
