Food and restaurants have inspired popular music for decades, at least as far back as the early 1900s.

Composer Charles L. Johnson (born in Kansas City, Kansas, in 1876) had a big hit with the "Dill Pickle Rag" in 1906 -- the second best-selling rag of the era, after Scott Joplin's "Maple Leaf Rag."

Over the years, songs have been written about everything from "Mayonnaise" (Smashing Pumpkins) to "Scenes from an Italian Restaurant" (Billy Joel) to "TV Dinners" (ZZ Top).

Some of the favorites on the Fat City jukebox:

5) Al Hirt's "Cotton Candy." It's sweet and sexy.

4) Kylie Minogue's "Chocolate."

3) Iggy Pop's "Candy"

2) "Java Jive" by Manhattan Transfer

1)  And the best LP featuring food is Whipped Cream and Other

Delights, the 1965 hit concept album by Herb Alpert and the Tijuana

Brass. Not only did the cover feature an attractive young woman

completely covered with whipped cream, but the album itself included

covers of "A Taste of Honey," "Tangerine," "Lemon Tree" and "Peanuts."
