Nobody has 80 days to go around the world, but could you spare six?
Around the globe in six days is the theme this week as Barley's Brewhaus celebrates its 14th anniversary.
"The idea was to have a food, entertainment, and drink feature each day that focused on a different country," says General Manager Angelo Gangai.
Tonight is German night, which features a smoked sausage trio, potato salad and braised cabbage. All German pints are $3; we recommend the Fransizkaner, a wheat beer that's Barley's most popular German brew for a reason.
"We're really looking forward to this week. It's all homemade food and we want to show off our barbecue," says Gangai, who will be celebrating his second anniversary at Barley's.
Tomorrow night is Local Night, with prime crown short ribs, pulled pork sliders and baked beans. There will also be a Boulevard Beer Tasting ($20) featuring Boulevard's Neil Witte. Thursday is Caribbean Night, with Jamaican jerk chicken, curried potatoes and peas, and $3 Red Stripes; Christian Franklin performs at 9 p.m., joined by the Red Stripe Girls.
Friday is Asian Night with pepper encrusted ahi tuna, spicy cashew chicken, $3 Tsing Tao and $4 Sake bombs. Anagrams performs at 10 p.m.
"I'm most excited about Latin night, when we'll have salsa dancing," Gangai says. That's Saturday, when there will be Tex-mex egg roles and a trio of homemade tamales as well as $10 Mexican beer buckets. Sol Venezuela hits the stage at 10 p.m.
