You need plans. Fat City has a recycle bin full of listings. In this post, all our problems are solved.
Fat City tested it for you yesterday, but you can try the Schlafly Raspberry Hefeweizen for yourself -- along with the Kolsch, Summer Lager, American IPA and Bourbon Imperial Stout -- during a free walk-through tasting at Gomer's South (9902 Holmes Road) tonight. Gary Briggs will be there pouring and answering questions from 4 to 6 p.m.
Rice ball or meat ball? What's it going to be buddy? Festa Italiana kicks off tonight at Zona Rosa, with live Italian music in the beer garden. The free festival runs from 5 to 10 p.m. today, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.
On Saturday, author Steven Raichlen stops at the Barnes and Noble in Zona Rosa at 1 p.m. to discuss his new book, Planet Barbecue.
Nicky's Week -- an annual fundraiser hosted by RA Sushi locations across the country -- ends on Saturday. All proceeds from particular menu items -- such as edamame, pork gyoza, Red Bull and Fiji Water -- benefit the St. Jude's Research Hospital.
Hamburger Mary's is now serving brunch. It begins at 11 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday. In addition to burgers there are Applejack Marycakes and the first mimosa is free. The second (and possibly third) is $2.
Toga parties don't have to end in college. Tasso's
hosts its third annual such party from 6 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. Saturday,
June 5, complete with a best toga contest. Part of the proceeds benefit
the American Diabetes Foundation. Tickets are $20 and include two drink
tickets.
KosherFest
returns to Congregation Ohev Sholom (75th Street and
Nall) Sunday from 12 to 5 p.m. The third biannual event celebrates
Jewish culture and food, with homemade matzo ball soup, latkes and
brisket and an Israeli-style shuk (market).
Cookie lovers should stop by Sweet Tomatoes
during June. Locations in Overland Park (8505 College
Boulevard) and Kansas City (1309 Meadow Lake Parkway) are selling bags
of homemade cookies for $2 with all of the proceeds benefiting Easter
Seals. Also, when you buy a bag of cookies, you get a
buy-one-and-get-one-free meal and a drink coupon.
