KC not fat enough for The Biggest Loser

Weight-loss reality-TV hit The Biggest Loser is apparently looking for contestants for Season 11. But you know what city isn't on the list of 11 open audition sites? That's right: Kansas City.

So even though Men's Health ranked Kansas City the sixth fattest city in the country earlier this year, we don't merit a stop for a show dedicated to weight loss. Omaha, Denver and Chicago are the three closest audition sites this month and next.

Kansas City may actually be better off without the extreme exercise show. As The New York Times reported last November, a healthy approach to weight loss could be taking a back seat to what makes for compelling television. Also, this allows the city of fountains to watch other people exercise, rather than hit the gym.

Kansas Citians are still free to send an audition video. But we're also free to eat less barbecue. And that's not happening. In the interim, we better start bulking up.

Dallas -- fourth on the Men's Health list of fattest cities -- is one of the audition sites. In order to be considered for the next audition cycle, it looks like we're going to have crack the top five. We can do it with some hard work and a little bacon grease.

But for the next season, The Biggest Loser is the biggest loser. We have plenty of belt-busting folks who would have been glad to sweat out some biscuits and gravy on television.
