You need plans. Fat City has a recycle bin full of listings. In this post, all our problems are solved.
The American Royal is no longer a one trick pony. The third annual American Royal Wine & Brew Ha Ha comes to Hale Arena on Saturday from 5 to 9 p.m. The event has grown to include more than 100 varieties of wine and beer, including local suds from Boulevard and wine from Inland Sea. Tickets are $25 in advance, $30 at the gate. An additional $25 buys you entry into the Texas hold'em tournament.
The farm-to-table movement gets a boost from Toyota on Saturday. The carmaker launches an 11-city Farm to Table Tour
at City Market. Between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., sample dishes from a dozen
of this city's chefs, including Alex Pope of R Bar and Ted Habinger of
Room 39.
All you need to say is oui at Cafe des Amis
in Parkville. The restaurant rolls out a big taste of France with a
buffet from 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Play it safe with quiche and
smoked salmon or be a bit adventurous and sample some escargot. Mousse
au chocolat and French pastries mean that you should save a bit of
room. The buffet costs $15. Call 816-587-6767 to make a reservation.
Backfire BBQ in the Legends kicks off its Patio Pig Party on Sunday. The weekly summer special will feature a whole hog on a spit, along with pit smoked beans and corn on the cob. The barbecue pork fiesta is $10.95 for adults, $4.95 for kids.
Trivia night has returned to The Bottleneck (our Best Of pick in 2009). The Lawrence bar hosts one of the most competitive trivia smackdowns around with Andy Morton at the helm. A $5 entry gets you into the game that typically lasts from 8 to 11 p.m.
