Poppy's Teresa Poppinga wants you to become a conehead
"Life is like an ice cream cone," said Charles M. Schulz, creator of the Peanuts comic strip. "You have to lick it one day at a time."

The official licking day for the cold, creamy concoction is Sunday. You can even eat it in bed -- no less a celebrity than Brad Pitt has said that being married means you can "fart and eat ice cream in bed." Of course, he's not married anymore. But if you want to eat ice cream and not fart, we have some ideas.

For the lactose-intolerant out there who love ice cream but can't handle the bloating, gassy results that sometimes follow an impulsive devouring of three scoops of Baskin-Robbins' Chocolate Mousse Royale, some alternatives:

The dairy-free cashew soft-serve at the new Füd Restaurant.

The creamy corn-milk ice cream at the Ixtapa Mexican Restaurant or Frida's Contemporary Mexican Cuisine.

Most sorbets are dairy-free, including the luscious home-made creations at Glace Artisan Ice Cream in midtown, Poppy's Ice Cream & Coffee House in Lee's Summit and Westport's Murray's Ice Cream & Cookies.
