Even if your fantasy doesn't involve chocolate, it should now. KKFI's Third Chocolate Fantasy Night is at Californos (4124 Pennsylvania) tonight. The night of chocolate and live music -- the proceeds benefit the radio station -- starts at 7:30 p.m. Much on chocolates and hors d'oeuvres from Californos and get your palm read by one of the two KFFI pyschics on hand. Tickets are $15 for kids or the unemployed, $20 for individuals and $30 for couples. Tickets can be purchased at the event or online.
Tonight Zack Greinke takes the mound for the Kansas City Royals at 7:10 p.m. And it's Buck Night at Kauffman Stadium -- the finest of baseball promotions. On seven separate nights, small Pepsi drinks, hot dogs, peanuts, Twinkies and scorecards are $1.
Backfire BBQ
in the Legends puts on a Boulevard Beer Tasting from 6 to 8 tonight on its patio. Brewers from Boulevard will be on hand,
offering tastes of the company's Wheat, Pilsner, Lunar Ale and Zon. To
go with the suds: beer-soaked bratwursts and hot dogs. The tasting is
is moving to an adjacent storefront at 229B Southeast Main in Lee's Summit on
Saturday. The store is offering free samples from 10 a.m. to 5
p.m. That same day, pastry chef Andrea Adams-Britt leads a "Cupcake
101" class from 10 a.m. to noon. You'll learn how to bake and ice
vanilla and chocolate cupcakes, leaving with six baked goodies to take
home. The class costs $25. Participants get 15 percent off purchases at
the food store.
Bastille Day doesn't have to end. Aixois wraps up its second annual Bastille Day Party during the Crestwood
Shops Sidewalk Sale. The party kicks off Saturday at 10 a.m. with
French food under a tent outside. Stick around for the petanque (the French equivalent of bocce) tournament.
It's not always a bad thing to find yourself in a pickle. Organic
farmer Tom Ruggieri leads a pickling class from 1 to 6 p.m. on Sunday at Bad Seed (1909 McGee). Participants will learn how to make
different varieties of pickles and pickled vegetables and take home a
